Math Myth: Boys Are Better

Janet Hyde Ph.D., is a psychologist who has terrific track record studying gender stereotypes and analyzing the data to distinguish between reality and myth.

In the journal, Science (V. 321 #5888, 2008), she reports that she and her team analyzed math test scores from 7,000,000 students – a lot of kids- in grades 2-11.  The researchers found NO DIFFERENCE IN AVERAGE PERFORMANCE. Even when they looked at the high and low ends, they found no meaningful difference between boys and girls in math. Another myth busted and you read it here!
