3 Ways To Increase Motivation

We can be motivated by extrinsic factors, i.e. ‘my readers will be bored if I don’t come up with some new posts for my blog photos - general 095blog’ or intrinsic factors, ‘I want to write on my blog today.’  External can become internal and visa versa.  For example, I have learned to be organized, not because anyone will scold me anymore but because my head feels less cluttered when my world is a bit in order. Conversely, i remember when i used to love making batik fabrics and soft sculptures. then, I began getting clothing orders – it killed the whole thing (I was only working for money, and not enough of it)

How do we stay motivated from the inside rather than the outside? Increase the 3 following ingredients.

At the heart of intrinsic motivation are these three factors:

1. We feel competent . We want to be good at something but not if it is too easy. Then, we don’t get that sense of competence.

2. We feel free and autonomous. We dislike being controlled so the sense of autonomy helps us to grow.

3. We wanted to feel connected to people or ideas. we aren’t as motivated when we feel all alone (but the process of creating is often done alone).

This book will help writers stay intrinsically motivated.
