Working memory (short term remembering and processing) can be improved 50% by climbing trees, balancing on a beam, and finding your way around obstacles. Don’t like those options??? Develop others – these activities work because they are unpredictable; they force you to keep processing information. Memory works harder during this type of activity because the environment is constantly changing and your brain has to update. You must adapt your movements to information that is coming in – unlike the treadmill that works your body but does nothing for your brain. Look for activities that exercise your brain while you also exercise your body, and you will benefit from improved working memory.
